I Like Leptons!
anything that runs through my mind, for the most part
MBSE BBS
so it seems that mbse, a bbs program, is finally runnable on powerpc based macs, so yay i get to finally do a bbs! now i need phone lines!
Time Lapse Light Plotter
Hey guise! So I’m making my old plotter that has a broken pen up/down mechanism
into a plotter with a led light attached where the pen is. I’ll set up a camera in front of the plotter and set it to take an exposure long enough to capture a complete line produced by the plotter-light assembly. This system will be controlled by a script on my laptop that triggers the camera and plotter simultaneously. This will allow me to automate the process and make producing animations more efficiently.

Wearable Annoying-ness
i’ve been trying to make a gps location-aware wearable computer system to generate audio based on what the place would sound like if no one had ever lived there. GPSD is a piece of crap documentation-wise, and at least the macports version randomly dies when more than one program connects to gpsd. it’s been quite the pain in the ass. hopefully it will be awesome.
Ok, so i’m trying to put together a photo book.
I’ve got a good number of photos. Anyone wanna copy?
OpenSim Compiled and works!
(on ubuntu. the compile documentation for osx was kinda crappy)
yeah, so give it about a week and i should have a sandbox mode opensim server up and running, the first step towards the secondlife SAIC grid! woo! it’s a damn shame how annoying trying to compile and install on osx was, so now my laptop dual boots ubuntu and osx.
Second Life Grid
so i’m trying to set up a private SAIC second life grid with opensimulator. too bad their documentation for setting it up for OSX is crap, so i guess i’m installing ubutnu on my lappy now… and keeping my fingers crossed.
Plans for a wearable gallery
Build a wearable computer set up with a portable webcam and a HMD that one
uses like a pair of binoculars. Set it up so that one can walk through a park
and the camera will recognize places and superimpose images in certain areas. In
this way one could turn a public park into an exhibition space without having to
do any paperwork.
First post!
woo!
now down to business. what the hell am i actually going to use this for?
